In your Fleetio Account Settings, you can customize various fields and settings related to Parts & Inventory management.
PERMISSIONS: Account Owners and Administrators can manage Parts Settings. See User Management Overview for more information.
Go to your Account Menu and select Settings.

Scroll down the Settings Sidebar to the Parts & Inventory section.

Part Settings
Control general Part settings here.
- Enable Inventory Tracking By Default - Inventory Tracking can be turned on by default when a Part is made active at a location.
Part Locations
- Use Locations to keep track of Parts stored at various warehouses or parts closets. "On hand" quantities are also stored at the Location level for a Part.
- To add a new location, click the + Add Part Location button. Provide a name and description, and click Save.
- View archived Part Locations in the Archived Tab. To learn about Archived Part Locations, see Archive, Restore, or Delete Part Locations.
Part Categories
- Assign Categories to Parts to help with report filtering and enhanced reporting capabilities.
- To add a new category, click the + Add Part Category button. Provide a name and description, and click Save.
- If the category should be designated as a Tire Category, check the box to enable this. This feature is directly tied to the Tire Management feature (only available with the Fleetio Premium plan).
Part Manufacturers
- Specify a Part Manufacturer for a more detailed description of a Part. This information also serves as a visual aid on various pages for Parts.
- To add a manufacturer, click the + Add Part Manufacturer button. Provide a name and description, and click Save.
Inventory Adjustment Reasons
- An Adjustment Reason is required when increasing or decreasing inventory quantity levels. These reasons only apply to Parts with the Track Inventory field set to the ON position.
- To add an adjustment reason, click the + Add Inventory Adjustment Reason button. Provide a name, and click Save.
NOTE: If your users utilize Fleetio Go in Spanish, Inventory Adjustment Reasons will not be translated and will appear in English. Learn more in Fleetio Go in Spanish for Administrators.
Inventory Valuation Method
- Enables the choice of four Inventory Valuation Methods: Static Pricing, Average Cost, First-in First-out (FIFO), and Last-in Last-out (LIFO). For more information on Inventory Valuation Methods, see:
Measurement Units
- Use Measurement Units to specify how a part unit is packaged or used. The “symbol” is an abbreviated name for a Measurement Unit.
- To add a measurement unit, click the + Add Measurement Unit button. Provide a name, symbol, and description, and click Save.
Purchase Order Settings
- Manage your Purchase Order Settings including setting the Next Purchase Order number and Automatically Close Fully Received POs.
