Fleetio keeps a log of all Meter Entries created throughout the system. This includes meter readings manually input during an inspection, readings brought in from integrations, and readings from linked records such as an Inspection, Fuel Entry, Service Entry, or Work Order.
Meter Entries must follow the correct sequence, incrementing in value by date. For each entry, Fleetio validates to ensure that the value falls between any entries logged before and/or after.

Why Void?
In some cases, there may be an incorrect Meter Entry already saved in Fleetio. When you attempt to save your next Fuel Entry or Service Entry, the meter reading you are trying to enter is rejected as invalid based on this incorrect history.
Using the Mark as Void option for the meter reading will let you override the validation so that you can save the record. Adjust the previous incorrect Meter Entry, then come back and update this one to remove the void entry.
A void meter value has no effect on the vehicle's Current Reading, and won't be used in any reporting or usage calculations.

Mark as Void
If you attempt to save an invalid meter value, such as one that is too high or too low, Fleetio will provide an opportunity to adjust your value or void it, and will offer references to help you correct the value. There is also a link to Meter History so that you can review and/or adjust other entries.

NOTE: To void ALL Meter Entries from the Vehicle History, see Reset Meter Values.
Effect on Service Reminders and Service Reminder Compliance
If you save a Service Entry with a void meter value, Fleetio will use an Estimated Meter instead. The Estimated Meter is the closest valid meter in the Vehicle’s meter history, based on date. Any associated Service Reminders will use this value as the Last Completed meter reading in order to calculate the Next Due service mileage, and this value will be used in the Service Reminder Compliance calculation to determine whether the service was On-time or Late.
EXAMPLE: A vehicle received a Service Entry on Wednesday with a void meter entry. A Fuel Entry with a valid meter of 12,000 miles was recorded on the prior Monday. The next due meter for that Service will be based on the valid 12,000 value. If meter history or service history is later changed, the due meter will update accordingly.
If you Edit a Service Entry to adjust the meter value, change the meter value on the Service Entry and "un-void" it later, then the associated Service Reminders will recalculate the "next due" mileage and the updated, valid meter value will be used.
Auto Void Meter Entries
In certain instances, Fleetio will automatically void Meter Entry anomalies. These are often associated with a GPS Integration or a Fuel Entry from a Fuel Card Integration or Fuel Entry Import.
TIP: When a Meter Entry is auto-voided, viewing the Meter Entry Conflict can help you understand the reason why it was auto-voided. Learn more in Meter Entry Conflicts.
Some entries, even manually entered ones, are voided if the entry exceeds a reasonable amount.
For example, if the mileage on a vehicle is 179,000 miles on Tuesday, then the next day (Wednesday), an Entry is added for 194,000 miles, Fleetio will void Wednesday's Entry since it's unlikely a vehicle traveled 15,000 miles in one day.
The maximum for each Meter Type is:
- 3,000 mi/day
- 4,828 km/day
- 24 hr/day

Edit and Un-mark as Void
If a Meter Entry has been marked as void, you have the opportunity to correct and UN-mark it as void. First, edit the entry to correct the value, either using the Meter History or the associated Service Entry or Fuel Entry. Then, hover over the record and select the More Actions menu. Then, select Unvoid.

Or, deselect the Mark as Void checkbox if you are editing an associated record.
