Table of Contents
For Vehicles that use telematics devices with the Geotab or Samsara integration, you can view sensor data directly from the Vehicle in Fleetio.
IMPORTANT: To see the sensor data in Fleetio with a Geotab or Samsara integration, these parameters must be followed:
- Geotab: You must be using the Pro or Pro Plus Plan and be using a vehicle that receives sensor data. If you are not on the correct Geotab plan, you will be notified in the Telematics tab.
- Samsara: If you have a Samsara device, we expect to be able to gather data for any of your vehicles that can receive sensor data.
View Sensor Data
To view the sensor data for a vehicle:
- Click the Vehicle menu and select Vehicle List.
- Locate the Vehicle for which you would like to view sensor data.
- Click the Vehicle to view the Vehicle Details page.
- In the overview, you can view a Telematics Sensor Readings card that visually displays telematics information for the vehicle.

NOTE: Sensor types and availability may vary by vehicle and GPS provider. For example, Geotab vehicles may have tire pressures shown on the card but Samsara vehicles will not because Samsara does not support tire pressure sensors currently.
- Next, select the Telematics tab. If you are not able to view the Telematics tab in the Vehicle Overview, you may add this using the Manage Columns feature.
- If a vehicle is displaying sensor data from the integration, it will display in this tab.
NOTE: Fleetio will display the date/time the sensor data was sent to Samsara or Geotab. While we strive for the integration to show these events in near real-time, there may be a delay from when the data is generated by the Vehicle versus when it displays in Fleetio.
Understanding Sensor Data
On the Telematics tab of the Vehicle Overview, you will have the following functionality:
- Select a date range (a) to view data
IMPORTANT: For Essential or Professional Fleetio plans, Sensor Data is saved for seven days.
For the Premium Fleetio Plan, Sensor Data is saved for 14 days.
- View Recent Events (b) to show Vehicle Faults or Trips (defined as when an engine is started, driven and then the engine stops) for the time period selected
- Choose Sensors to Display (c). You may choose up to four sensors to view.
- View data trends for the selected sensors on the telematics chart and hover over the various data points to view details (d)
- Reference the various telematics events (e) that were reported by hovering over the colored indicator at the bottom of the chart
- Click one of the other Telematics display views (f) such as the Kanban or table view to view the data in a different format
- Select one of the Recent Event trips on the left to show where the trip occurred on the chart (g) to view relevant data

If you'd like to zoom in to examine the data closer, hold down and drag your cursor to highlight a specific area.

If you do not have a device assigned to the vehicle, you will be prompted to add one when you enter the Telematics tab on the Vehicle.

Sensor Data Snapshots
You can use Sensor Data Snapshots to select a segment of Sensor Data to create a new Issue based on the selection or add it to existing Issues.
IMPORTANT: Sensor Data Snapshots are only available with the Premium Fleetio plan.
Watch the video below to see Sensor Data Snapshots in action, or read the step-by-step directions to walk you through the process:
To capture a snapshot of your Sensor Data:

Just like the other Snapshot modules shown above, you can click and drag on the data field or use the slider (e) to fine-tune the selected range.

To delete a Sensor Data Snapshot, click the More Actions Button in the top right of the Snapshot and select Delete.

Viewing Sensor Data on the Vehicle List
For Vehicles receiving sensor data, you can view the most recent data for Vehicles directly in the Vehicle List columns.
- Ensure that you have added any columns of sensor data you would like to view in the Settings > Manage Columns feature.
- View the data in the corresponding columns in the Vehicle List.
- Hover over any of the sensor data points to view the last time the data was recorded.
- You may also filter by specific sensor data criteria using the Filters button at the top of the Vehicle List.
NOTE: While Geotab pulls a wide variety of sensor data, Samara delivers a more limited set of sensor data for vehicles.
