Fleetio Go tracks the GPS location of every Inspection Item on an Inspection Submission. You can see these GPS points in an interactive map when viewing an Inspection Submission in Fleetio.

NOTE: The location panel will display a notification if the mobile device did not have the GPS location enabled at the time of submission.
Location monitoring allows you to verify Inspection integrity. Are drivers "pencil-whipping" their submissions from the driver's seat? Are they filling out the inspection while driving or away from the vehicle? Ensuring that vehicle checks are conducted properly and honestly is imperative to spot defects and resolve issues immediately. Learn more in the Fleetio Blog.
Viewing Location Exceptions
Fleetio will automatically flag inspection submissions where the GPS points suggest the form may have been filled out improperly. These exceptions will be indicated by an icon in the Location Exception column. A message will also be displayed above the location when viewing the submission.

Location Exception Triggers
Fleetio generates a Location Exception whenever a submission's GPS points are either too close or too far from each other, indicating that the inspection may have been improperly performed.
These thresholds can be configured in your Account Settings.
- Go to your Account Menu and select Settings.

- In the Settings sidebar, click Inspection Settings under Inspections.
- Choose your settings for Proximity Threshold and Distance Threshold.

Proximity Threshold
Choose a percentage between 50-100% in the Proximity Threshold drop-down (the default for every account is 80%).
A Location Exception will trigger if at least that percentage of Inspection items on an Inspection Form are submitted from the exact same GPS position.
Distance Threshold
Enter a value in meters in the Distance Threshold field (the default for every account is 100m).
A Location Exception will trigger if the submission location of at least one inspection item is further than this distance from the other items. Fleetio calculates the average GPS position for a submission based on the latitude and longitude values for each item on that submission and compares each item's straight-line distance to the calculated center point.
- When you're finished, click the Save Inspection Settings button.
Enabling or Disabling Location Exceptions
You can enable or disable Location Exceptions by editing the Inspection Form.
- Click Inspections in the Sidebar Navigation, then click Forms.
- Click the More Actions Button on an Inspection Form and select Title and Settings.

- Click the Enable Location Exception tracking checkbox to enable (checked) or disable (unchecked) Location Exception tracking.
- When you're finished, click the Save Inspection Form button.

NOTE: If Location Exception tracking is disabled, the map of locations will still appear when viewing Inspection Submissions, but Location Exception flags will not display.
