Fleetio integrates with GPS Trackit devices. This article explains how to set up the integration and map your GPS Trackit devices to Fleetio vehicles.
GPS Trackit is a native integration and includes the following features:
| Integration Feature | Included |
|---|---|
| Primary Meter | ✓ |
| Secondary Meter | ✓ |
| Faults / Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) | ✓ |
| Vehicle Location | ✓ |
| Auto-Mapping | ✓ |
Adding the Integration
To add the integration, you'll need to receive an API token from GPS Trackit, then copy it into Fleetio and configure your settings.
Check Fleetio Vehicles
There are two items to check in Fleetio before receiving an API token.
- Assets are configured with the proper Meters (primary/secondary) and meter measurement units. GPS Trackit supports primary/secondary meter units in miles, kilometers, and engine hours.
- VINs are correct for each Vehicle in Fleetio, if applicable. VINs are used to automatically map GPS Trackit devices to Fleetio, so a vehicle with an incorrect or missing VIN will need to be manually mapped.
Request GPS Trackit API Token
An API token (API Key) is needed to set up the integration. To generate an API token, reach out to the GPS Trackit customer service team by:
- Phone: (866) 320-5810
- Email: customerservice@gpstrackit.com
Enter the API Token in Fleetio
Once the GPS Trackit team provides you with an API token, log into Fleetio.
- Click Integrations in the Sidebar Navigation.

- Click Telematics in the Integrations Directory.

- Click the Connect button in the GPS Trackit tile.

- Enter the API token provided by the GPS Trackit customer service team in the API Key field and click Next.

- Choose whether to Sync Vehicles and Devices in Fleetio, which will import your GPS Trackit vehicles into Fleetio, or Only Add the Devices, then click Connect GPS Trackit to Fleetio.
TIP: Learn more about Syncing Vehicles from a Telematics provider in Telematics Vehicle Import.

It may take a few minutes for Fleetio to process the integration and map your assets from GPS Trackit to Fleetio. Once the process is complete, there will be a prompt to reload the page and view your devices.
NOTE: The integration does not pull in historical data from GPS Trackit. New data is imported moving forward.
Mapping Vehicles Manually
If an asset doesn't have a VIN number or can't be automatically mapped from GPS Trackit, you can manually map devices.
- Click Integrations in the Sidebar Navigation.
- Click My Integrations in the Integrations Directory.

- Click the More Actions Button for GPS Trackit and select Manage Devices.

This will bring you to the Telematics Devices Index filtered by the GPS Trackit integration.
- Choose the corresponding Fleetio Vehicle by clicking the Unassigned link under the Assigned Vehicle column in each unmapped row.

TIP: See Managing Telematics Devices for more information on managing your devices through the Telematics Devices page.
Syncing Meter and Location Entries
Meter Entries are imported nightly at midnight based on your account's time zone. These can be manually refreshed at any time.
Location Entries are imported on a nightly basis but can be manually refreshed at any time.
Location Entries are logged:
- If it has been more than 15 minutes since the previous log.
- When you add a Fuel Entry, Service Entry with a Vendor, or submit an Inspection.
- If you manually trigger one.
TIP: Learn more in Vehicle Location History.
Managing Alerts
After the initial setup, you may modify the settings for the integration.
- Click Integrations in the Sidebar Navigation.
- Click My Integrations in the Integrations Directory.

- Click the More Actions Button for GPS Trackit and select Edit.

- Use the checkboxes to enable DTC Alerts and Download DTC Alerts Hourly.
- DTC Alerts are Diagnostic Trouble Codes and other engine alerts; these are created as Faults in Fleetio.
- If DTC Alerts are enabled, you may optionally configure to Download DTC Alerts Hourly instead of the default daily import.

- When you're finished, click the Save button.
Fault Count
NOTE: GPS Trackit now supports Fault count tracking for Commercial Vehicles ONLY. GPS Trackit does not support Fault count tracking for all other Vehicles. Therefore, the Count column in the Faults listing will show a dash.
Fleetio will import any fault that has been active at some point since the previous check, even if the fault is no longer active. If the count is available and a fault already exists with the same Vehicle, the same Fault code, and is unresolved (and not ignored), the Fault count will update with the last occurred date and count for the existing fault. If there is not an existing fault with the above information, a new fault will be created.

Manage Fault Rules for DTC Alerts
Navigate to Issues > Faults in the Sidebar Navigation to access the Faults Index, where you can view and manage reported DTC Alerts.
Manually Refresh to view the most current Fault data.
TIP: Learn more about Fault Rules in Faults Overview.
