| Secondary Meter | Once per day | Must have a device capable of reading engine hours |
| Vehicle Location | Once per day | Available to all integration users |
| Faults/Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) | Whenever one is created/updated in Digital Fleet | Only works with a Digital Fleet+ hardware system |
| DVIR Defects | Whenever one is created/updated/deleted in Digital Fleet | Need to have DVIRs enabled in Digital Fleet |
What You Need to Know
Digital Fleet uses the VIN to map vehicles to Fleetio, meaning the VINs in Fleetio must match the VINs in Digital Fleet in order for a vehicle to be linked.
Integration Setup
-
Contact Digital Fleet support
Before setting up in Fleetio, the integration must be enabled in Digital Fleet.
Do this by submitting a request to the Digital Fleet support team. Once you have opened a request, you can either wait to hear back or complete step two. -
Create an API key in Fleetio
Follow the Fleetio API Keys guide to generate a key and access your account token. -
Copy/paste the API key and account token into Digital Fleet
Once you hear back from Digital Fleet that the integration has been enabled, copy and paste the API key and account token from Fleetio into your Digital Fleet account settings.
If you do not have DVIR enabled in Digital Fleet, the integration is now set up, and data will start flowing into Fleetio!
If you do have DVIR enabled in Digital Fleet and want that data to be pulled into Fleetio, there is one additional step for setup: -
(ONLY for DVIR setup) Create a custom field in Fleetio to link DVIR defects
- Navigate to your Account Menu and select Settings.
- In the Settings sidebar, click Custom Fields in the Organization section.
- Click + Add Custom Field and fill in the fields with the following information:
- Record Type - Issue
- Data Type - Text
- Label - external_id
- Description - To keep track of Custom Fields and what they correspond to, type in a short description. Descriptions appear under the label name in the custom fields list.
- Navigate to your Account Menu and select Settings.

- Click the Save button when you're finished.
