Fleetio integrates with Zubie GPS tracking devices. This article explains how to set up the integration and map your Zubie devices to Fleetio Vehicles.
Zubie is a native integration and includes the following features:
| Integration Feature | Included |
|---|---|
| Primary Meter | ✓ |
| Faults / Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) | ✓ |
| Navigation to/from Fleetio | ✓ |
| Vehicle Location | ✓ |
| Auto-Mapping | ✓ |
Meter Value Calculation
Zubie devices do not read a Vehicle’s odometer directly. The Zubie system calculates mileage from Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) data.
Once you enter a starting mileage value for a Vehicle in your Zubie account, the Zubie device will track subsequent mileage using VSS data automatically.
Meter Units Supported
The Fleetio integration with Zubie supports primary meter units in miles or kilometers. Engine Hours import is not supported on the primary meter, and secondary meter syncing is not supported at this time. Simply set the primary meter units appropriately on the Fleetio Vehicle, and the correct value will be imported.
Data Update Frequency
Meter Entries are imported nightly at midnight based on your account's time zone. These can be manually refreshed at any time.
Vehicle Location updates are imported on a nightly basis and may be manually refreshed at any time. A new Location Entry is only recorded if it has been more than 15 minutes since the previous one.
TIP: Multiple Meter Entries with the same Date and Meter Reading may simply indicate that Fleetio has pulled the most current data available from the device. Learn more in the GPS Integrations Advanced Meter Topics article.
Prepare Your Fleetio Vehicles
Before initiating the setup process, you'll want to prepare your Fleetio Vehicles.
- Ensure that each Vehicle is configured with primary meters in miles.
- If possible, enter a VIN for each Vehicle. Fleetio will attempt to auto-map Zubie devices to Fleetio Vehicles based on VIN, but you may also complete this mapping manually if the VIN is omitted.
Zubie Setup
- Click Integrations in the Sidebar Navigation.

- Click Telematics in the Integrations Directory.

- Click the Connect button in the Zubie tile.

- In the pop-up, click Next.

- Click Authenticate Zubie Account. You'll be redirected to the Zubie website, where you'll log in and authorize Fleetio to access Zubie data. Once authorized, you'll be redirected back to Fleetio.

- You'll be asked if you want to sync your Vehicles with Fleetio or only sync Telematics Devices. See Telematics Vehicle Import to learn more about these options, then return here to complete your setup.
- Fleetio will attempt to auto-map Zubie GPS devices to Fleetio Vehicles based on VIN. Vehicles can also be manually mapped by navigating to My Integrations, clicking the More Actions button on the Zubie integration, and selecting Manage Devices.

- This displays the full list of your Zubie devices. Assign a Vehicle by clicking the Unassigned link in the Assigned Vehicle column, then choose the corresponding Fleetio vehicle from the drop-down menu.

TIP: See Managing Telematics Devices for more information on managing your devices through the Telematics Devices page.
View Zubie Assignment History
If you transfer Zubie devices between Vehicles, you will need to un-map and re-map the Vehicles on the Manage Devices screen, as shown above.
A log of Assignment History is tracked and may be viewed by clicking the More Actions Button.

Edit Zubie Settings
By default, Zubie settings are configured to import Engine Faults once per day. You may update the import frequency to hourly or disable it altogether.
- Click Integrations in the Sidebar Navigation.
- Click My Integrations in the Integrations Directory.

- Click the More Actions Button for your Zubie integration and select Edit.
- Check the boxes to enable/disable DTC Alerts or to set the download frequency to Hourly.

- When you're finished, click the Save button.
Manage Zubie Faults
Faults generally refer to Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) and other alerts reported from an engine through an onboard diagnostic device.
Navigate to Issues > Faults in the Sidebar Navigation to view imported Faults. An icon appears for faults to indicate Zubie as the reporting source.
Fleetio imports the Fault Code, but you can create Fault Rules to manage these - add a Name, Description, and/or Priority.
TIP: Learn more in Faults Overview.
Deactivate or Delete Integration
During the setup steps, Fleetio will authenticate access to the Zubie account. In the event that the credentials entered here are incorrect, you may Deactivate and Re-authenticate the Integration using the More Actions Button.
This is also where you will find the option to Delete the integration entirely.
