Table of Contents
Fleetio compiles a Location History for each Vehicle, with Location Entries collected from various records:
- Fuel Entries (based on a Vendor with a valid address)
- Service Entries (based on a Vendor with a valid address)
- Inspection Submissions
- GPS Integrations
PERMISSIONS: Users must have View Location Entries permissions to view Location Entries. See User Roles & Permissions for more information.
A new Location Entry is created automatically for Fuel Entries and Service Entries if a Vendor is included and that Vendor has a valid address.
Location Entries are also logged for Inspections as long as the mobile device or browser has Location Access enabled.
If your organization has a GPS integration with a third-party provider, a Location Entry is typically created nightly and available for manual update on demand.
Native Integrations Data Updates
For native integrations, Meter Entries and Fuel Entries are imported nightly.
Vehicle Location updates are imported nightly, but there may be additional entries -- most providers check for location updates with every meter update. A new Location Entry will only be logged if it has been more than 15 minutes since the previous entry.
In the Web App
- Click Vehicles in the Sidebar Navigation and select Vehicle List.
- Click a Vehicle to view the Vehicle Details Page.
- Click the Location History Tab to view a map and a table of Location Entries.
NOTE: If you are unable to see Location History as a tab, click the More button to explore additional tabs.

Colored icons on the map indicate the source of the Location Entry, such as a Fuel Entry (a) or Service Entry (b).

Location Entries are also shown in the column on the left. Click any icon on the map or entry in the column to view the details of the entry.
In Fleetio Go
When viewing the Vehicle Details screen in Fleetio Go, scroll down to the menu section and tap Last Known Location to load a map and address details.
Manually Refresh GPS Integration Location
For Vehicles equipped with an integrated GPS device, a Location Entry is typically created on a nightly basis for most third-party providers. If you wish to obtain current GPS location data, you can manually refresh location data at any time.
