GPS Integrations - Refresh Meter/Location Data

This article covers how to trigger a manual update to view the most current meter or location data from a native GPS integration.

GPS Integration setup options include Native Integrations (those that are built into Fleetio) and API Integrations (which you may establish yourself).

For Native Integrations, which include Meter Updates and Vehicle Location, data is automatically imported nightly.

Vehicle Location updates are imported nightly, but there may be additional entries -- most providers check for location updates with every meter update. A new Location Entry will only be logged if it has been more than 15 minutes since the previous entry.

IMPORTANT: These steps will trigger an update of vehicle meter and/or location data for a vehicle with an active integrated GPS device. If you are troubleshooting connection issues between your GPS devices and Fleetio vehicles, follow the instructions in the GPS Integrations - Refresh Devices article.

Performing a Manual Meter Update

  1. Click Vehicles in the Sidebar Navigation, then click Vehicle List.
  2. Find the desired vehicle and click its name to view its Vehicle Details Page.
  3. On the Details card in the Overview tab, locate the Meter reading and click the Refresh button.

You'll see the banners below on the bottom right of your screen, which will display the update status.

NOTE: The ability to trigger an update using a GPS device is only available for native integrations.

Performing a Manual Vehicle Location Update

  1. Click Vehicles in the Sidebar Navigation, then click Vehicle List.
  2. Find the desired vehicle and click its name to view its Vehicle Details Page.
  3. Locate the Last Known Location card on the Overview tab. You'll see the last checked-in date/time in the bottom right of the card.

  1. Click More Actions and select Refresh to manually update the Vehicle's location.
    • For some GPS providers, you'll also have the option to View in Telematics Provider, which allows you to view the vehicle within the GPS provider's interface.
