IMPORTANT: This process will reload all devices from the third-party GPS system but will not refresh the device readings. If you are trying to update the Vehicle meter and/or location, follow the instructions in GPS Integrations - Refresh Meter/Location Data.
When you add new tracking devices to your third-party GPS system or make any changes to devices/Vehicle identifiers (e.g. Vehicle Name or VIN), the integration link between GPS devices and Fleetio Vehicles will need to be Refreshed. There are two ways for this to happen.
Automatic Refresh
Fleetio automatically refreshes your devices every night.
Manual Refresh
If you want to see the changes immediately, you can refresh your devices manually.
- Click Integrations in the Sidebar Navigation.
- Click My Integrations in the Integrations Directory.
- Locate the GPS provider, click the More Actions Button, and select Refresh Devices.

Device Auto-mapping Logic
Devices will be automatically mapped or unmapped based on the following criteria:
- If the device is not already in Fleetio
- The device will be created and mapped if a Vehicle with a matching VIN is found
- If the device exists and is not currently mapped
- The device will be mapped if a Vehicle with a matching VIN is found
- If the device exists and is already mapped
- If a change to the VIN associated with the device is detected
- The device will be re-mapped if a Vehicle matching the new VIN is found
- The device will be unmapped if no Vehicle matching the new VIN is found
- If no change to the VIN is detected
- The device will remain mapped to the existing Vehicle
- If a change to the VIN associated with the device is detected
EXAMPLE:
Since a Vehicle can only be mapped to a single device, if Device 1 is supposed to be mapped but the Vehicle is already associated with Device 2, Device 1 will only be unmapped from its existing Vehicle.
