Table of Contents
Within Account Settings, the Maintenance Settings section provides various settings related to Service Entries and Work Orders. These settings apply to both the Fleetio web app and Fleetio Go, unless otherwise noted.
To access your Maintenance Settings:
- Navigate to your Account Menu and select Settings.

- In the Settings sidebar, click Maintenance Settings in the Service section.

The available settings on this page are explained in detail below.
NOTE: If you make any changes on this page, remember to click the Save Maintenance Settings button.
- Enable Work Orders: The Fleetio Professional and Premium plans include features such as Work Orders and Parts. If these modules are not applicable to your operations, you may uncheck the box. This will simplify the Fleetio interface, removing options that are not relevant.

General
- Next Work Order Number: If you have already been using Work Orders in another system, you may wish to resume the number sequence already in progress. Designate the next WO number here. This setting is only available if "Hide Work Orders" is disabled.
IMPORTANT: It is NOT possible to choose a "next WO number" less than the current highest. If a user mistakenly enters WO# 990, the next will automatically increment to #991. When creating a new WO, lower numbers may be entered manually as long as they are not already taken, but the next in sequence can never be less than the highest that has been used.
-
Require a Meter Reading: Keeping accurate, current meter readings is essential for staying on top of meter-tracked preventative maintenance schedules. The default requirement to include a meter reading with all Service Entries and completed Work Orders helps to ensure that meters are kept current and that Service Reminders reset accordingly.
- Excluded Vehicle Types (Require a Meter Reading): Some equipment is not tracked by the meter at all, or perhaps services are scheduled solely by date interval, never by usage. In this case, you may designate specific vehicles/equipment as excluded by Type from the meter reading requirement explained above. This setting is only available if "Require a Meter Reading" is enabled.

Line Items
Service Task Inspections
- Require any inspections to be completed to complete a Work Order: If checked, inspections cannot be removed and must be completed in order to complete a Work Order

Maintenance Categorization
-
Require a Repair Priority Class: If "Yes", a Repair Priority Class must be present to save a Service Entry or completed Work Order (excludes Service Entries generated from Maintenance Shop Network). It is strongly suggested that you leave this option turned on.
- Excluded Vehicle Types (Repair Priority Class): The selected vehicle type(s) are excluded and will NOT require a Repair Priority Class to save a Service Entry or completed Work Order. This setting is only available if "Require a Repair Priority Class" is enabled.
- Require a Reason for Repair on Line Items: If enabled, a Reason for Repair must be present to save a Service Entry or Work Order (excludes Service Entries generated from Maintenance Shop Network). This requirement only applies to future Work Orders or Service Entries after this setting is enabled.
- Require a Category on Line Items: If enabled, a Category must be present to save a Service Entry or Work Order (includes Service Entries generated from Maintenance Shop Network). This requirement only applies to future Work Orders or Service Entries after this setting is enabled.
- Disable Editing the Default Reason for Repair Codes Applied to Line Items: If enabled, users cannot edit a Service Task's default Reason for Repair Code within Work Order or Service Entry line items.
- Disable Editing the Default Category, System, Assembly, Component Codes Applied to Line Items: If enabled, users cannot edit a Service Task’s default Category, System, Assembly, or Component Codes within Work Order or Service Entry line items.

Inventory Locations
- Require an Inventory Location on Work Order Part Line Items: Part Locations can be selected when Parts are used on Work Orders to automatically reduce inventory or note where a Part was sourced from. Normally, this is not required, but can be enabled to ensure accurate inventory tracking. By enabling this setting, Fleetio will also hide parts from Work Orders that are not active at Part Locations in users' Record Sets. This setting is only available if "Hide Work Orders" is disabled.

Expected Labor Hours
- Display Expected Labor Hours: If enabled, users will see Expected Labor Hours displayed within Work Order Line Items when labor hours are added in both the Fleetio web app and Fleetio Go.

Markups
- Display Labor Markup and Display Parts Markup: Adds fields for Labor and/or Parts markup adjustments as either a percentage or fixed amount. Default values may also be set.
NOTE: If you are using an Advanced Inventory Valuation Method, such as the Average Cost Method or FIFO or LIFO Method, this setting will be checked by default and cannot be disabled.
